Ron Sandison is a self-advocating autistic adult who works full-time in healthcare, part-time as a professor, is married with a child, he runs the blog and website Spectrum Inclusion, and speaks at several autism-related conferences each year. Oh, I forget to mention that he's an author too. Recently, Ron wrote a post on The Art of Autism site about his encounter with Dr. Temple Grandin, as they were both speakers at a conference in Michigan. Ron writes recounting Temple sharing her thoughts about autistic adults needing to, "...get their butts out of the house and get a job!" She went on to talk about ways autistic adults can start small to begin building work experience. AutismHR.com wants to help autistic adults find meaningful work to earn worthwhile income from the Gig Economy. AutismHR believes the Gig Economy can provide, at the least a starting point for creative autistic adults to earn some income from providing their skills as an online digital service. At most, ambitious autistic adults can potentially make a full-time living doing project-based freelance work in the Gig Economy. Both Sandison and Grandin are good role models of autistic working adults -- find more to stay encouraged and motivated, and become one as you progress along your own employment/entrepreneurial journey.
